August 4th came and went. Remembering the excitement and the smell of hairspray..the mimosas we sipped on while getting ready..girls chatting in the early morning..the clicks of cameras. It's already been a year since we got married.
Because we didn't completely plan on getting a house this year, we thought we'd take a fabulous trip. Remember our "mini-moon"? Turns out that's probably just our honeymoon. And our mini anniversary getaway, really is just our anniversary weekend. But it was still awesome.
We started out walking around downtown Stillwater and having lunch. We went through the cute little shops and I eventually had to take my stupid wedges off.
Then we ventured to a the St. Croix Inn.
I was very much against a B&B type place because I think it's weird, and I love hotels.
It still was a little weird but it was a very cute place, and they brought coffee and breakfast to our room in the morning instead of having a community table or something. I don't like people I don't know.
Turns out the wine tasting was two different wines in a thimble cup and a box of truffles for everyone to share. And the dinner turned out to be borderline cafeteria food while you're bumping elbows with 500 other people at long tables in the lower part of the ferry, and we had to sit in the aisle, like 9 people away from the window.
But once we got to the top part, the views were spectacular.
The next day we went to a winery nearby where they were also having a morning of polocross!
It was a low key afternoon and we made it home for a nap.
And then we brought out our baby. The beautiful top level our wedding cake that's been wrapped tightly in our freezer for an entire year.
It was just as beautiful with freeze crystals.
But the taste? well..we each ate a whole piece out of principle, and a week later we had to toss her.
For our "paper" anniversary, I accidentally opened my gift from Pete the week before. He got me a wine membership to one of my favorite wineries I visited in California a few years ago.
But when the enveloped came in the mail it was addressed to me, so I opened it! NOT my fault :)
And I got
myself Pete a print of our first dance with a few of the lyrics from our song on it for my paper gift.
