This Weekend, I....v. 23

Grab a button and write a weekend recap post with the heading This Weekend I....
Link up your post here or over with Sar :)

This weekend I happy hour'd with these sassy ladies--
Jess, LoKelly, me, Jen
Thanks for the laughs, girls. And the 4 glasses of wine history lesson Lo.

This weekend I celebrated a little diva's 3rd birthday.
I went to grad school with her amazing mom Sara and it was fun to catch up and celebrate.  Her daughter has two faces-- pouty or 'you're an idiot'.
"you're an idiot.."

Orrin had a blast being around other kids, and of course he's never met a cupcake he didn't like.
Me & Sara-- DNPs :)

This weekend I used my allowance (yes-Pete & I do bimonthly allowances for ourselves to manage our funds) on a target run.  They had some super cute throw blankets on clearance that I could not pass up and I got a dress for our trip to DC this week.  It's amazing how an hour at target can put you in the best mood ever.  If spending all my money at target is wrong, I don't ever want to be right. Ever.

This weekend I learned that my cats are absolutely terrified of balloons.  Orrin brought one home from the birthday party and the kitties were playing with the string for a bit.  But as soon as they saw the balloon attached to it? Seriously-Ferdinand absolutely flipped and hid under the bed.  And then acted all paranoid for the rest of the afternoon.
However-I think we finally found out a way to keep him out of places he shouldn't be!

I have been absolutely relishing our weather lately..we've been sunny and in the 30's which has felt amazing.  And tonight we're supposed to get another dumping of snow..I think maybe another foot? ugh. I started wearing Spring colors to counteract the depressive weather.

This week we'll be on our trip to DC and I'll have a full recap when I get back--any tips on what we should see?

  2. Looks like a great weekend. I hope you have a great time in DC and hopefully the weather will be warmer than in MN! You are there right before cherry blossoms bloom I think.

  5. We've started making 'monthly 'allowances' for ourselves as well (isn't budgeting fun?!)...and I already spent mine at Nordstrom's rack on shoes. ;)

  6. BAHAHA.. Lo texted me the next day "OMG, Matt doesn't think I'm a racist, does he?!" ... I died.

    also, amen re: Target

and the cat story killed me. hahaha. TJ had an episode of tweakdom this weekend too: apparently coming in the front door REALLY throws him off and scares him. who knew.

  11. Yes! I lived in DC for a little bit, so here are my favorite places-- Baked & Wired for the best cupcakes I've ever had; obviously all the monuments; the Spy Museum; The Newseum (I never actually went there bc it opened right after I left, but I'm dying to go); the Museum of American History (and natural history if you like science stuff-- the best thing about the Smithsonian museums is that they're all free!); the Capitol and Library of Congress and Supreme Court if you can. If you like Indian food, the best place is Indique on Connecticut Ave (literally right beside the CP metro stop)-- it was absolutely AMAZING Indian food. There's a great family-style Italian restaurant in Dupont Circle, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it... Oh, Union Station is really neat, and they've got a bunch of places to eat there too. For quick food, Cosi and the Corner Bakery were always a winner for me, and there are a bunch throughout the city. Hope you have a wonderful trip!! :)

  12. Oh, and if you're in Arlington, there's a great burger place called Big Buns. You can pick your meat, bun, toppings, etc. Delish!
