How was your first week of 2013?
I did not make any resolutions because they make me feel pressured. But this weekend I did think about some short term and long term goals.
I've been trying to get back in to the routine of tracking my calories and working out (um for the past 12 months..) so there's that.
My inspiration sites right now include anything by Laura and there are some great recipes at Eat Yourself Skinny and Skinnytaste. Pete & I are going to try to get better about meal planning which gets hard being at my parents' house and not having our own full sized kitchen.
Also, I haaaate sandwiches. I can do salads, but what else do you guys eat for healthy lunches??
this weekend I was all alone since hubby went up to the boundary waters with the guys for some winter camping and ice fishing. I found myself not really knowing what to do-I'm so not used to having a little bit of free time!
I took down Christmas and did some extra cleaning. I love having everything nice and neat when hubby's not around because Jesus knows that once he comes back, this place is going to be a disaster again :/
this weekend I started training naughty Ferdinand.
The day we got Ferdy he was just so sweet. Sure, he's still under a year old. But the first few days he was cuddly and purry and snuggly..just what we wanted. And then he went crazy.
Besides bugging his sister, he has a habit of waking me up every single night. Every night you guys. And he wakes me up by biting any exposed skin he can find while purring as loud as he can. He continues this game no matter how many times he gets pushed off the bed. Recently, he started climbing under the blankets at the bottom of the bed for biting access to my feet and legs. It's been horrible. Especially at 4am.
So I googled and researched (PetMD exists!) and I tried some of their techniques. And it wasn't 100% cured, but it worked about 80% last night!
Now to get hubby to follow through-he lets that cat do whatever he wants. I really appreciate my sweet Choxie who could never do wrong :)
this weekend I watched Father of the Bride 1, Father of the Bride 2, and You've Got Mail-all on tv. Am I the only one that loves to watch my favorite movies when they're on tv even though I own them and can watch them whenever I want?
And now? A full week of work. We've been so spoiled :)

Syndal -- re: healthy lunches. Try making something the night before then having leftovers the next day! I'm not a huge leftover person but if I find something I like, it is great to have for lunch the next day. The other thing is frozen meals, if you're into them. I have like 2 or 3 I don't mind and can couple with something else for a filling lunch. Finally, soup is a nice alternative! good luck. :)
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS. I totally watch movies on TV, even though I have DVDs in another room. It's just so fun...and what great movies! In other news, when I move into my new place, I'm going to be 100% Skinnytaste. I cooked a lot of her stuff in Nashville, but it was counteracted by Chick Fil A. Here's to a happy & healthy 2013!
ReplyDeletexox!
um, I'm going to need to know those cat-biting techniques. We let TJ sleep with us on the weekends only, because every morning at 4 a.m. or so I wake up to him standing over me, purring, nipping at my skin. It's because he gets fed in the morning when we get up but can't tell time. We've tried ignoring him, but it's a battle of "who can last with a pillow over their head the longest"...and M hates that game. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteHaha! My grandparents' cat will pounce on them around 6:30 every morning so they will get up and feed him. Spoiled rotten cat!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm totally with you on the movies! I watch The Holiday every time I see it on, even though I own it. :) It's my favorite! I can't help myself!!! ;)
Aww, thank you for the shoutout!! I love sandwiches, but I also mix In leftovers, grilled chicken (cook a bunch at a time and refrigerate it) and raw veggies with hummus or reduced fat veggie dip, salads with tons of different vegetables, soup with cottage cheese or yogurt or some kind of protein, etc. Lunch is hard! You're doing great, though - Excited for you!
ReplyDeleteHealthy lunches can be a challenge. I usually bring left overs from the night before's dinner or make a sandwich (PB&J, turkey, etc), cheese quesadilla, or something light like a protein bar and fruit. My favorite lunch right now is a small cheese quesadilla with an apple dipped in peanut butter...yum! And good luck with your cat!
ReplyDeleteI also watch my favorite movies when they are on TV...they never get old. :) Also, have you heard about Bento boxes for lunch? I just bought one this past weekend...it makes it easy to pre-plan/pack your lunches in a creative way. Plus there are a million lunch ideas online!
ReplyDeleteI would've totally watched those movies with you!! I LOVE Father of the Bride--both of them actually. I can't imagine that ice fishing is fun, but I know that my husband does some crazy things too!
ReplyDeleteOur black/white cat did that until he was two. He would attack us when we were getting into bed, while we were sleeping...and was just a terrorist. He'll calm down eventually! Looks like a great weekend, though! Those are some of my absolute favorite movies. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I know it's not funny to you, but the pic of him in the fridge made me laugh. :) Good luck training him! Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya on resolutions. I feel like the rest of the world has expectations for me that I can't control, so at least I can control my own. Oh man, that probably makes me a horrible person. ;) Loooooooove both Father of the Brides. My fav!
ReplyDeleteAw, i haven't seen the Father of the Bride movies in so long!!! And i was looking for You've Got Mail on Netflix last weekend or so. I couldn't find it. :o/
ReplyDeleteMost of my lunches are leftovers from dinners I've made. It's quick and cheap since you've already made it! :) And the cat in the fridge pic cracked me up!!
